The Toronto Film Festival is in full swing, and what better start than our annual TIFF Party! In case you missed it, our annual TIFF night was held on Thursday Sept 9. The night was co-hosted with Gordon Burkell from Art of the Guillotine, and co-organized by Producer Jennifer Connolly.

This year the event was held at Jack Astor’s in the heart of the city at Yonge and Dundas. The event brings together people from film and broadcast from all aspects of production and post-production, which included Producers, DP’s, Editors, Writers, and even Actors. Attendees included people from New York, CTV, CBC, Global, MTV, Much Music, Teletoon, Corus, and Bell just to name a few.

The event was sponsored by the Canadian Cinema Editors, and Stella Artois. Prizes were generously donated by the Art of the Guillotine, Tej’s Tech blog, and the grand prize was a $100 gift certificate donated by Vistek.

The evening was full of energy and as people shared various stories, from working on the hit new Global / ABC TV series Rookie Blue, to working in the highly creative field of animation over at Teletoon and Corus. Producer Micheal Plaxton even had the opportunity to fly down to Orlando to cover the Star Wars Celebration V, and winners of the Teletoon contest.

Discussions were not all industry related, there were a great many jokes to be had including ones made at myself and my iPhone 3G. Most of which were just laughs that my broken phone still works even though you can see the mother board. I think I heard the words “ you still have that? Ha Ha Ha “ more times last night than ever before.

There were even more moments with Sarah Collation. It was dubbed by Will Ramirez as “crossing swords.” Sarah and I were having a “shoot out” with the Canon 5D vs 7D.

The night was filled with laughter and surprises. Including a surprise visit from Chris Drost from the Torontoist was kind of enough to drop in between covering the Red Carpet at Royal Thompson Hall.

Late into the night as people began to leave many of them were treated to one last a suprise… Stella Artois had one more contest. A scratch and win contest for a set of Stella Artois Pouring kit. Many of attendees won the kit and went home very happy!

A special thank you to our sponsors for making this year’s event bigger and better than last year!

I would also like to take the opportunity to commend producer Jennifer Connolly for helping organize this event, as she was invaluable, to our TIFF Night. Thanks again !

We hope to see you all at next years event. Until then enjoy the pics below.
