This year has been full of many different wonderful gadgets, gear and and amazing software.  Many of these things I had to own, many of these I just could not fit into my budget no matter how hard I tried. But now that 2012 is coming to a close, I thought I would share some of my favorite gadget of 2012.

Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II

2012 had started out with one my favorite pieces of gear to date. I was able to finally get my hands on the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II Lens. This beautiful piece of of glass has won many awards, and after using it you can see why. The heavy piece of glass was built to last.  It is fast, sharp and more than capable of capturing every moment. Plus it also performed well while working with video. Simply one of the best pieces of glass I own.

Samsung Series 9 Laptop

Over the year I have use many different laptops, but the one that stuck of me this year was the Samsung Series 9.  This small thin Ultrabook style laptop is great for carrying around. It’s even light than my iPad believe it or not. It has some great features including 128GB SSD, Intel i5 , USB 3.0, and a LED HD Screen. This is simple a great laptop for working on when portability counts.

Nvidia GTX 570

NOw here is a piece if gear that is not only important but it truly updated my MacPro tower with a much needed boost. The Nvidia GTX 570  is a graphics card that is designed for the PC, but also can be used with a MacPro. Now it’s not a simple plug and play scenario. I mean it does just plug right in, but you do have to get the right firmware working , and take a little know how.  But if you can make it work, then your aging MacPro tower will gain some new life in the visual department.

Go Pro Hero 3 Black

Ending 2012  with my one my favorite pieces of gear I have owned in some time. The GoPro hero 3 Black edition. This small inexpensive camera has Wifi built in that allows you to control the camera from either a small wifi remote or via a free App for you phone or tablet. The GoPro is capable of shooting stable slow motion, 4K at 15fps, but it really seems to shine at 2.7k at 24fps. The waterproof case makes it perfect for shooting with in almost any weather conditions, combined with its small size make it a perfect camera to get those new angles you always wanted.

These are just a few of my favourite gadgets of 2012. Sure there are plenty of others, but I don’t own them , so it just didn’t seem fair. What are some of your favorite gadgets of 2012 ? What are looking forward to from CES or coming down the pipeline in 2013 ?
