This weekend has been very wonderful, not only have we had wonderful weather. It was also a long weekend filled with fireworks. Canon Canada is also having an anniversary sale. that means there are plenty of discounts for you to spend that hard earned cash. I took this is my opportunity to take the plunge and pick up a brand new Canon 5D MKIII body. Initial impressions are just fantastic. I have always preferred the ergonomics of my Canon 7D over the Canon 5D MKII, and...

Last year at NAB, I had the opportunity to take a look at the pre-trial version of Autodesk Smoke. The post-production community was largely excited for the new release. There were some caveats that appeared, but I remained optimistic. Fast Forward to today, and Smoke 2013 has now been released with many of the features updated. Over the past couple of weeks I have been testing out the Flashpoint DG600 Moonlight Blue from Adorama. The Flashpoint DG 600 has plastic case keeping the weight down, and the balance is better than most, as it does not seem front heavy. The nice balance allows me to place the fixture in almost any location with out fear of toppling over, or the need for extra support. A nice upgrade over their previous models is the new LED’s, instead of using a traditional halogen...

In my previous article, I discussed setting aside a budget and what were the your needs out of building your first PC. I also briefly touched on the parts needed to build my new edit station. However I really did not go into to much detail, so let’s begin with my assembled laundry list of PC Parts I selected to build my PC. Processor First, I chose my processor, as this would enviably dictate every other piece of gear that I would need to support it. I chose an Intel...
