Summer is in full swing, and what better way to stay cool, then to play with new gear.  I recently received a new Carbon Fiber Letus Hawk from Letus Direct. For those of you unfamiliar with what this is  or actually does… It is a view finder for dslrs such as The Canon 5D and Canon 7D.  This piece of gear allows you to gain a better visual reference for critical focus while shooting video with DSLR’s. One my favorite DSLR view finders has been my Zacuto Z-Finder with the gorrlia plate. It has been very rugged and more than proved it’s worth to me on several occasions.

The Letus Hawk is a beautiful piece made from Carbon Fiber, and as many of you know carbon fiber looks fantastic.  The quick release plate that it comes with is fast and easy to use. At any time you can quickly remove the Hawk and go back to shooting stills. A very nice feature.

The Letus Hawk  provides you with a zoom 2.75 and is adjustable to +1.5 to -2.5 to accommodate near and far sighted users.  This great for really gaining control over your focus.  The quick release makes it easy to use in a run and gun situation.

Now I am not going to go into an in depth review of Letus Hawk, as I have only had it for a couple of days. Nor am I going to do a comparison with other dslr view finders.  Instead let me refer you to my good friend Nino Leitner who not only has a great review of the Letus Hawk, but also has done comparisons with other manufactures.

You can check out his review on the Letus Hawk here.
