It has been a very long time since my last posting. I had actually become very busy with various projects. Then the beautiful weather started up and I have been out shooting almost every day.  The camera I have been using is my Canon 5D MK3 which has quickly become my favorite camera of all time. This camera is simply a joy to work with. It combines all the ergonomics of my beloved Canon 7D with the power of a full frame sensor.

While shooting with this camera, I have continued to use some of favorite lenses. The Canon 70 – 20mm f/2.8 ISII L ,  Canon 17-40 f/4 L as my wide, and of course the Canon 50mm f/1.4. These have been my favorite lenses to carry around, but  the power of the MK3 got me thinking. What other lenses would I like?

Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 DI VC  was my first choice. I was looking for lens I could carry with me that could cover a nice range with out having to carry a bunch of lenses. Actually that’s not true entirely. Initially I wanted the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L. However, my budget constrains simply just could not stretch that far. The Tamron is actually a great second choice as the build quality is actually quiet good and the lens has VC ( Vibration Compensation) perfect for handheld shots.

Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM was my next choice. I say next because of course I had a chance to use the beautiful Canon 85mm f/1.2 L. Not only was that lens fast but also really can produce some of the best images for portraits out there. Again budget comes into play, and after using the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 you truly realize this lens is remarkable for the price. Also for you bokeh starved out here, this lens helps you capture that in droves. Even when shooting video with this lens I was very impressed by the images, even more so with the help of Magic Lantern.

Well as you can see the combination of a new body a few new lenses, it quiet easy to find an excuse to be out constantly shooting.  I will be following up with a more in depth post about each of these new lenses in an upcoming post. Until then feel free to ask me anything in comments below or on Twitter @TejBabra
